Bhai Baldeep Singh Singing Ram kali Sadd

Saturday 2nd December 2006 a kirtan darbar was held at gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in loving memory of Bhai Avtar Singh ji.
Every one had some thing to share. But what I found most touching were words of Bhai Gurcharan Singh ji. This is what he said," Avtar Singh was 10 yrs younger to me.Till date I remember his first cry when he came in this world. That day when I returned home after playing I had to wait outside as my mother was inside and after a while a heard a loud cry... ( here he also immitated the cry)... That was my new born younger brother. It was most painful to bid him good bye but I am happy he went laughing and saw that last smile on his face. so now in my memory I'll have his first cry and last smile."
Many remebered his kirtan at Gurdwara Sis ganj Sahib. He did kirtan at this Shahidi asthan for 52 years and left the world on this shahidi dewas.
Nothing can fill the gap he has left but such souls should never be mourned for...
guramukh janam savaar dharageh chaliaasachee dharageh jaae sachaa pirr maliaa
Spending this life fruitfully gurmukh goes to the other world. There in the true court (of lord) he gets his true place.

"so now in my memory I'll have his first cry and last smile"

The sign of true gurmukh. They cry upon departing with Him and smile upon anticipating their reunion with Him.

    Yes Satvinder!
He said so that we all come in this world crying and we are the winners if we leave this world laughing!
He quoted shiekh saadi for this...
Duniyan vich aande haan te assi ronde haan te jag hasda hai
jindagi es terah bita ke jao ke jan vele tusi haso te jag rove...
But more than any thing it was a brother's love that touched my heart

    Vahiguru Ji Ka Khalsa
    Vahiguru Ji Ki Phatah!

Wow. Very touching and inspirational. Bhai Baldeep Singh sang Ramkali Sadu which, among other things, is a bani that explains how a Sikh is to act upon someone's death. In that bani Baba Sundar, while explaining the departure of Guru Amardas Sahib from earthly body, writes that Guru Amardas said - "mat mai pichai koi rovasi, so mai muli na bhaia...". "don't cry after my departure, the Guru does not relish that behavior..."

    Dear Anonymous,
Bhai Gurcharan Singh ji did kirtan that day(may he live long!) and He is same Bhai Gurcharan Singh who used to do kirtan with him at Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib. The Jatha was known as Bhai Avtar Singh Gurcharan Singh ji's Jatha. They did kirtan for 52 years. Now Bhai Gurcharan Singh ji probably lives in USA( i am not sure) He is indeed elder brother of Bhai Avtar Singh ji and according to him there was an age difference of 10yrs.
I couldn't record anything that day!
But I have some video clips of Bhai Baldeep Singh's kirtan which i will post as soon as i get time to upload them.
There was a live telecast from etc punjabi and i am sure someone will have the recordings! please wait till they are posted on some blog.
