Women do kirtan in Gurdwaras in India.Next time you come to India please let me know I shall take you around and then you can see for yourself. But most of these women do kirtan as sewa so they only do it according to thier time, mostly in the afternoon( between 2pm -5pm). I don't think there are in regular women kirtaniayas employed by any gurdwara committee though there are many women working as Granthi.
So hope to see you next time when you come to India!

Istree SatSang is how we used to call it, and last I visited India (9 yrs. ago) it was in full swing at Bibi Kaulaa Gurdwara Saheb in Amritsar. I owe a lot to the istree satsang because as a young boy, i'd go with my mother and listen to keertan of Gurbaanee done with love and devotion that is rare in professionals.
Upinder Kaur Jeeyo, awesome site. A local Auntee jee sent me the link and I am very thankful both to her and to you...

I haven't spent a lot of time in India (10 weeks, over two visits), but I did spend most of my time around Gurdwaray and I never once saw a woman doing kirtan. This is the first time I've even seen a picture of women in India doing kirtan, and I'm happy to see it.
It looked normal to me at first, but then I realized this isn't England or Canada or some other place, it's India. Khalsa women are the future of the panth!
